1890's Antique Victorian Paper Dolls From Lion Coffee-The Baker. The set includes 4 parts: 1) a girl, 2) the girl's party dress, 3) the Mill. 4 And the Miller (boy.) The main scene shows the girl carrying meal sacks, and the boy pouring grain into the mill. Not being ones to waste good advertising space, on the back of the four parts are slogans, encouraging people to buy MORE Lion Coffee. All 4 parts of the Miller grouping are in very good condition, and still clean, and sharp, with rich tonality. There is no apparent soiling on the front or the back, and only minor edge wear. Very rare and fascinating "1890's Antique Victorian Paper Dolls From Lion Coffee -  The Hall."  The set includes 4 parts: 1) a young girl sitting on a bench, 2) the same young girl in her second outfit 3) the older girl on the stairs 4) the Hall background
The main scene created shows the two youngsters located in the Hall.
This 4
-part Hall scene measures approx. 6-1/2 by 5-3/4".  The diagram on the back of the Hall scene, shows how the parts fit together.
The Paper Dolls were one of several
inserts, which were
used for advertising by the Woolson Spice Company, Toledo, OH, and was included in packages of their Lion Coffee.  Not being ones to waste good advertising space, on the back of the four parts are the following jingles:
"Some Coffeees sell for Miore, Some for less, but Lion Coffee is the most Satisfactory.
"It grows on a Tree and is then Roasted and called Lion Coffee."
"Nationala Favorites - 4th of July, US Constitution and Lion Coffee."
"Lion coffee is the Workingman's Friend."
These wonderful and original "Paper Dolls" are
in very good condition. The images are still clean, and sharp, with strong contrast and rich tonality. The slits where the parts fit together are in good condition … not torn.  There are a few creases, and the right hand of the older girl is missing

These Victorian-era paper toys were once given away by the Woolson Spice Company as insert premiums. And Woolson Spice, the parent company
was one of the most important users of this advertising gimmick.  The die-cut, standup figures could be played with alone or combined with others into play sets or mini-panoramas.
To be sure this "1890's Antique Victorian Paper Dolls From Lion Coffee -  The Hall." is a very rare and quite wonderful example Chromolithography of the time, and would be a fantastic addition to any Victorian era collection!!!

Very seldom a package will get "stuck" in customs for as much as
