Description
A fabulous find is this arithmetic, mathematics workbook originally done by Josephus S. Roland in 1845 to 1846. Ancestry.com lists a Josephus Roland as born in 1833 in Abbottstown Pennsylvania. It is a preliminary guess that this is the same individual as he would have been 12 years old at the time of learning this complicated arithmetic regimen. This is a extremely meticulously done mathematics workbook by this young person 170 years ago.
It is filled with 140 pages of carefully laid out arithmetic lessons highlighted by elaborately done scrollwork letters with decorative motifs all of which contribute a great deal of charm to this early American treasure.
This is suitable for a museum or sohisticated early Americana/folk art collection.
Please note the front cover is missing and please feel free to ask any questions. These early hand done workbooks are very few and far between.
