Description
While the name of this pattern is FLOWER BAND due to the floral scroll on the bowl and base of the compote, it may be more commonly known as LOVE BIRDS because of the lovely frosted bird finial that adorns the lid. Made by Gillinder & Sons out of Philadelphia in the 1880s, this double-handled oval shaped dish has always received comments during the years it spent on display in my home. The dish measures just under 10 inches in height and the oval shaped bowl is 9 inches in length and 6.5 inches in width. The glass is clear and free of discoloration and free of any residue stains. There is a flake on the right wing of the top bird. Honestly, I have never had anyone point it out to me while the piece was displayed in my home. It is there. This is still a nice piece of glass.Buyers please note:
