Up for your consideration is a RARE Antique Sun Purple EAPG Sugar Cube Holder made by the Westmoreland Specialty Company in 1910.The style is "Domino". It measures 1 7/8" tall, 6.75" wide with the handles and 1 5/8" deep. In Excellent Preowned Condition! Please see pics for an accurate description.
Note: I purchased this item from a family member of the original owner, and it has been in storage since 1965. I am not sure if this is the case with this item, but often times Lavender glass is a result of vintage glass that
contained manganese dioxide and it has a tendency to
turn
different shades of
purple
when exposed to the rays of the
sun
or to other ultra-
violet
sources. ... This
changes
the manganese compound into a form that
causes
the
glass
to
turn purple
, thus the term "Sun Purple" when referring to the color of the glass.
