    Description

The pattern Psyche & Cupid, borrowed from Greek Mythology, is delicately portrayed in the pattern motif for which it is named. The name of the manufacturer is unknown, but it is believed to have been made by an American glass company in non-flint, circa 1870's.
This is a large water pitcher on which is portrayed two round cartouches, edged with a fine sawtooth design. Each cartouche contains a cameo image of Cupid holding up a mirror for a nude Psyche to gaze into while brushing her hair. Behind Psyche is a pillar and paneled moulding, while behind Cupid are branches of fauna. A delicate scroll design separates the two cartouches.
The clear glass water pitcher measures 9 1/2" in height, 9 1/2" from spout-to-handle and 4 1/2" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; EAPG often contains bubbles, straw marks as part of the manufacturing process.  This pitcher has some embedded bubbles in the foot of the pitcher -- looks like a chip at the edge (see photo) but it is actually a trapped bubble.
