  • Condition: Very good. Die-cut doll on front cover and same doll on back cover. Both intact but loose on one side. Four uncut pages of military uniforms and civilian clothes. Book measures 10.25”x9.5”. Dolls 10” tall. Cover is lightly soiled in places. Everything is shown.

    Original and vintage. Not a reproduction. According to a typewritten page in the envelope, this book is a reprint of Our WAAC Joan. The illustrator, Hilda Miloche, began illustrating children’s books for Whitman Publishing in the early 1940’s.  She continued into the 1960’s. Her art is a favorite among collectors. Wilma Kane was a good friend who helped with the artwork. There were five books in the original series Whitman #3980:  Our Nurse Nancy, Our Sailor Bob, Our Soldier Jim, Our WAAC Joan and Our Wave Patsy, all year 1943.
