    Description

    A beautiful pair of antique silver Shabbat candlesticks possibly by Maurice Ratner, Russian / Polish, ca. 1900. The urn shaped nozzle has a beaded detail on the rim and sits atop the column like standard. The standard feature a repeating floral, laurel swag/ribbon, and palmette motif. The standard sits above a dome shaped base decorated with ribbon, swags and grapevines in relief. Both candlesticks sit slightly askew but sit firmly on the table. The bases have been filled with plaster to add weight (not original). The bases of both candlesticks have the following four cartouches: round with profile of woman with crown (second silver standard mark), rectangle M.P., oval with profile of woman with 84 (first silver assay mark Warsaw), and rectangle rampant lion.
    Size: 14” tall x 5” diameter
    Condition: Excellent condition for age with repair above floral knop above base on one stick, no dents or scratches. Both candlesticks sit slightly askew above base, which have been filled with plaster. There is expected wear for an item of this age.
