Description
Very rare vintage bone china teacup and saucer made by Paragon, England with the full figural butterfly handle
A lovely background of pale blue with a pink base on the cup and a solid pale pink colorway on the saucer
The set could be married, but this is how they were purchased;  the cup base and saucer color are exact match
Note the incredible details on the butterly handle - it is handpainted with enamelled details
Likely circa early to mid 1940s when these cups were very much in vogue - the  double Paragon mark was used from 1938-1952
Sadly the cup has a chip to the rim on the back although it still "pings" and there is no other damage or restoration; the damage could be easily repaired by a professional
The saucer is in mint condition  with no chips, cracks, hairlines, other damage or restoration and passes the "ping" test
Some slight darkened blue on the very top edge of cup in a few spots from the factory application of hand washed color
There is a slight rough edge to the bottom outer wing of the handle which does not appear to have been properly glazed; I cannot detect any breakage but want to mention for complete accuracy
Cup measures 5" across including handle and is 2 1/8" tall at sides; saucer is 5 1/4" across
Both pieces are marked with the double warrant  mark used from 1938-1952 the cup mark in black and the saucer in dark brown; saucer also marked with pattern number G7312 handpainted in dark orange
Please ignore all white spots on photos caused by camera flash
This set would make a wonderful addition to your collection even as a shelf piece
