    Description

    Estate sale (my own): This is a Simonds 3-4" micrometer.
    As a manufacturer of quality precision measuring instruments, Simonds went out of business in the 1990s so I picked up some of their remaining stock. Starrett bought out rights to their magnetic bases and incorporated the push button design into their current products.
    These are 'old school' vernier micrometers with hammertone paint finish. Made in England. Notice the thick carbide ends on the measuring surfaces of the spindle, as they didn't economize back in those days. Compare the thickness of the carbide insert to the micrometers coming out of the Far East now.
    The micrometer is new old stock (NOS) and comes with a case and box, but depending on the size you buy from me, the case is either in excellent condition or beat up. What you see in the photos is what you get. The micrometers come with an adjusting wrench but do not come with standards.
