Description
One of the last great vises still made in America. This classic Wilton bullet vise was manufactured in December 1986. Includes all the original parts and fasteners, plus a new set of pipe jaws to replace the cracked originals, which still work with slightly limited function.Vise still has its original paint, although it has been worn away in places after nearly 40 years of duty. There are also small splatters of other paint in places. The surface has been thoroughly cleaned, polished and waxed and should not rust if the vise is kept clean and dry. It will need to be maintained to keep the paint from further deterioration. For an additional 0 I will completely strip the vise and repaint it with industrial or automotive enamel.
Prior to photography, the vise was completely disassembled and cleaned. Every part had rust and dried lubricant removed. Where appropriate they were lightly polished with Nevr Dull and buffed. Prior to reassembly, the screw drive was greased and the swivel plate and other parts were oiled. Parts that didn’t require lubrication were coated with anti-corrosion spray. As mentioned above, one of the original pipe jaws was broken and the other had a small crack. They were replaced with a brand new set ( value) and you will receive the old ones as backups.
Essentially, this vise has been restored in every way except the paint. Mechanically it’s perfect. I want the next owner to get the vise exactly the way they want it. So you can buy it as is and enjoy the 40-year-old patina, or I will paint it for you for an additional fee. (And obviously, you can paint it yourself!)
This vise is extremely heavy, weighing something like 60-plus pounds. That’s why shipping is so expensive. But local pickup is also available in the New York City area, from either Brooklyn or East Hampton. I will also deliver for a fee from Manhattan to Montauk.
